Roadway All-user Crash Elimination Plan (RACE)

About Roadway All-User Crash Elimination Plan (RACE)

The GBNRTC has developed and adopted, via Resolution 2022-25 (6/23/25), the Roadway All-User Crash Elimination Plan (RACE) to guide how the MPO region (Erie and Niagara Counties) will work to eliminate roadway fatalities and reduce serious injuries 50% for all road users including people who drive, walk, bike, or ride transit.

  • Sets a goal to eliminate fatal and reduce serious-injury crashes by 50% in Erie and Niagara Counties

  • Aims to prevent roadway deaths by addressing safer people, roads, vehicles, speeds, and post-crash care

  • Identifies priority locations for safety improvements

  • Provides a toolbox of safety treatments and countermeasures to reduce crashes.

  • Provides an online, GIS-based interactive safety dashboard

  • This Plan (SS4A Safety Action Plan) may be used by Erie and Niagara County municipalities to apply for SS4A implementation grants.

Roadway All-User Crash Elimination Plan (RACE) Dashboard

The RACE Dashboard was designed to present a visual snapshot of crash types in our region. When doing a detailed corridor analysis or even at the intersection level, NYSDOT’s CLEAR Crash Data Viewer is the best option.  Please contact GBNRTC for additional information at staff@gbnrtc.org.
